Endoscopic Brow lift

Age, sun exposure and gravity often produce a descent in the normal position of the eyebrows. Stress and muscle overactivity, in an attempt to elevate the position of the brows, contribute to forehead wrinkling, and an aged look. A forehead lift or browlift restores drooping eyebrows to a more natural and youthful position and smoothes the horizontal lines of the forehead. This procedure provides a fresher, more rested appearance to the eyes and face. The forehead lift is often performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery. The forehead lift is the surgery of choice when excess upper eyelid skin is caused by drooping eyebrows or when deep forehead wrinkles and furrows between the eyes are present.

During your initial consultation with our surgeons, we will thoroughly discuss your desires and expectations for surgery. We will conduct a thorough examination of your facial skin, soft tissue and skeletal structure. With the aid of digital photography and computer imaging, we can carefully plan with you the combination of techniques that will help achieve your most natural and desired result.

How is a Forehead Lift Performed?

Depending upon your specific needs, the forehead lift maybe performed using the classic, "coronal" technique, or with the endoscopic technique (utilizing a video camera and instruments through small keyhole incisions). Each option will be discussed with you carefully, and together we will decide on the technique that is most appropriate to achieve your goals.

With the coronal browlift, an incision is made across the scalp, within the hairline. The skin and soft tissues will be loosened down to the brows, the small muscles that produce wrinkling between the eyes may be removed, and the skin will be redraped upward. With the endoscopic technique, four to five small keyhole incisions are made within the hairline and an endoscope is used to visualize the elevation of the forehead skin and soft tissues using small instruments. The muscles that produce wrinkles and the deep tissues are resuspended, restoring the brows to a smoother, more youthful appearance. The procedure takes between two and three hours depending on your skin type and the number of procedures you have at once. Browlift surgery is performed in a surgical center on an outpatient basis. If you desire, or if you are having multiple cosmetic surgical procedures performed at once, you may stay over in a private care unit.
